Edition: Summary: Some people think that videogames are just entertainment. Not me. Like some people (you know who you are), I've been searching for something more than just a good driving game. I've been searching for a driving simulation. And not just any driving simulation. I seek perfection. Gran Turismo was great, so was Gran Turismo 3. But they did have flaws. Unfortunately, the greatest strength of Ferrari F355 is the greatest weakness of Gran Turismo.
Let me start by saying that Ferrari F355 has great graphics, and nice controls. It's music is annoying, but you can turn it off. The major flaw in the game is that the sense of speed is wrong. You are going 200 miles per hour, and you feel like you're going 50. For this reason, it is nearly impossible to make the sharp turns without flying off the track (due to the incredibly realistic physics). And to make matters worse, the AI of other cars is COMPLETELY unforgiving. Screw up ONCE, and you WILL lose. Not exactly fun. But forget that. I know a lot of people just enjoyed driving around the track by their lonesome. But why?
This game features the greatest selection of tracks of any racing sim EVER. Laguna Seca, Long Beach, Nuremburgring (hope I spelled that right), and of course the almighty Monza. These tracks (and many more) are represented PERFECTLY. If only the game had a correct sense of speed and was a bit easier, it would be the greatest racing sim ever. And if only Gran Turismo 3 featured all the tracks in this game, it would no flaws at all. As it is, this is a great but flawed game, and Gran Turismo will never be THE driving simulation until it has the awesome real world track to back it up.
Oh well. Perhaps someday, someone will make a game with the graphics, the controls, AND the tracks I crave...

Fable II Limited Collector's Edition

Platform: Xbox 360
Publisher: Microsoft
Genre: Role-Playing
My Rating:   Rated: Mature
Condition:
Edition: Summary: Before I begin this review, I would like to say that I have made my first run through the game (completed, from beginning to end), own and have played both the first Fable and Fable: TLC from beginning to end, and that my review may or may not contain some minor spoilers. I won't give away particular happenings, but I may hint at some events. This review will focus on some aspects of Fable II, but will mostly be a comparison between both Fables I and II and made for those who have played both.

I am a dedicated fan of Fable, and have been avidly awaiting this title ever since I finished with The Lost Chapters. And perhaps I hyped myself up far too much for this game because I loved the last so much, but I somehow felt very unsettled and disappointed after completing the game. I have done quite a bit of exploring, though perhaps not as much as I should have (I'm not certain yet, though I have done a fair few quests). And in regards to the storyline itself, I didn't like it that much. I found that while they repeated some aspects of the original Fable, which can only be expected, it really did fall short. I wasn't as interested in the events, and after a while going about the storyline just wasn't really that enlightening. The characters seemed hollow to me, and while interesting and eccentric in their own ways I just didn't connect to them, though the voice-acting was once again brilliant. The villain was the biggest disappointment of all to me. The previous villain was a mystery, and while his motives remained uncertain that was what gave him his charm and made him memorable. With the Fable II villain I kept expecting something interesting. I understood his motives, yes, but instead of that giving him depth (which had so much potential) he ended up seeming bland and cliche in the wrong sort of way. And the ending felt very anti-climatic to me. For anyone who plans on playing Fable II due to the grandness of the original Fable, don't expect too much here.

As far as the options for clothing and weaponry goes, I found that while there was plenty, none of it really appealed to me that much, and the items that did appeal to me were much too expensive for me to afford when I was focusing on gathering up a stock of potions when I found that perhaps I'd need them more than I expected. It's great that you can have jobs in this game and such, becuse earning gold in the original Fable was a bit too easy and therefore a bit boring, but I found that earning gold in Fable II was just as boring and more a hassle than an 'enlightening' experience. I enjoyed the simple repetitive activity of working when I found I'd rather wait around for shops to open, but when I'm playing a video game I don't want to sit there for seemingly endless amounts of time. The lack of making gold on quests also seemed to make it less exciting when I finished running around to do whatever task had to be done, and this leaves me feeling that an aspect of the good/evil thing was lost. What about a hero who doesn't necessarily care about renown, but would rather do quests for the gold? While that was never an actual moral issue when it came to the game, it was also a reason to do more quests and that thought just makes it more realistic. Quests weren't as fun anymore, and I didn't feel the need to go about fulfilling them just for renown. And rather than seem fun, they were just another chore. They had a repetitive feel that I didn't always experience when playing the original (and yes, I am well aware that Fables I and II are different games and a grown up world, but I am also dicussing improvement). It's wonderful that you can own so many buildings and buy so many new things, but where, pray tell, is this gold coming from? I found that I had an abundance in the original Fable with nothing to spend it on, and quite a lack in Fable II with much more available to purchase. I also don't have Xbox Live as I don't enjoy online play, so while I preordered I did not have the option to play any pub games, and felt no desire to play them when I actually owned the game. There's an augment you can get for your weapons that allows you to earn gold for every kill, but I didn't encounter that until much further into the game. And to be honest, I didn't find a point in doing quests unless I wanted to get through the storyline. Just about everything in Fable II requires gold, which you cannot earn by completeing quests... a bad decision there, I think.

As far as family goes, I found the courtship process to be very similar to the previous Fable, as well as the marriage process. Having a child was no large feat and not all exciting, and I found that the family became a bit of an annoyance. They repeated the same dialogue while I roamed around the house, and both the husband and son nagged at me about having an even nicer house (their's was mediocre; not poor not rich) everytime I came around. I can only imagine the headache I'd have if I'd decided to have more children or have another family (well, there's the realism for you, but I do mean this negatively and not in a cliche manner). Also keep in mind that now when you marry and have children, you are expected to give gold to them daily (it will be automatically drained once you set the amount to give them), and I'm pretty sure that for each member of your household the amount of gold you are expected to give goes up. I found this to be irritating when I had to make a large drain on my funds in order to upgrade my equipment.

The good or evil aspects that Fable is so well known have seemed to remain the same, so I'll spend no time focusing on that. What I do want to mention is the dog. I found this to be a unique and enjoyable aspect of the game, though it did sometimes get in the way (not so as to slow you down too much or prevent you from doing something, but he did get in the way when you are in a tight space and wish to get out). This dog will show you where to dig and where to find treasure chests, and while that is also a good thing it also is a bad thing. I found that because of the dog telling me where to find items I didn't feel as much of a need to go out and explore things. However, I did enjoy the dog. And when he wasn't around because he got stuck somewhere (another slight glitch) or was off for whatever reason, I discovered that I (being a little nerd) missed having the dog running alongside my hero. That is an accomplishment in itself. But I also must mention that while you can train your dog, teach him to fight, and get him to find better items for you (oh yes, see, those nice items aren't going to be that easy to find) it will likely cost you money. You need books to train your dog to do these things, and unless you can find them you'll need to buy them.

What I do wish to say here is that I believe that the developers spent far too much time focussing on expanding the amount of items available to you and enlarging the world rather than focussing on the storyline, which really needed improvement in my opinion. I also found it to be very depressing, and again, anti-climatic. I was stunned when the storyline ended, and sat there through the credits wondering "is it over? is that really it?" I can't get over my disappointment there. It seemed even shorter than the original Fable, and to be honest I never had a problem with what was available there and felt that they delivered exactly what was promised. I expected a more enhanced storyline, and I was also irked that I didn't get to know more about the characters. And while there is much more available to purchase and to explore, you really need to work at it, and now it seems to me that Fable is becoming more of a Sims game (sorry Sims fans, but I like action RPGs and I find the Sims to be horrendously annoying) than an action RPG which is the genre it is supposed to be part of. For people who don't enjoy repetitive tasks, I suggest you think carefully about purchasing this title.

In the category of the creatures you face, I found that there wasn't a large improvement here, and that they brought back most of the old creatures with little variations (not a negative thing). But I also found that it seemed like they had less creatures to fight than in the previous title, and while I don't care either way I did expect something new and more creatures to face. The change in the troll creatures was annoying (a good idea, but annoying) as you have to attack certain tendril-like parts of the troll, and I did this with a gun and found that I'd be there for ages trying to get rid of the troll while I was being smacked around with rocks and the like. I enjoyed the combat much more in the previous title.

I hope this assisted any readers in some ways, and that my thoughts weren't too all over the place. I personally find that this title falls short of the original Fable, and wasn't exactly an improvement. The graphics are beautiful and the world is quite intruiging, but I found that the action aspect of this RPG title was lost somewhere and became just another aspect of the game. Because of this, I give Fable II a 3.5/5 rating.

Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves

Platform: Sega Dreamcast
Publisher: Agetec
Genre: Fighting
My Rating:   Rated: Teen
Condition: Disc only
Edition: Summary: Mark of the wolves is classic 2d fighitng at its best. Everything about this game is well executed and the fighters are neither overpowered nor underbalanced. The Graphics look a little pixilated, But considering the type of game and the amount of character animations it is easily overlooked.

The way the characters work is wonderfull. You won't be doing 25+ hit combos Like in some of the new 2D fighters. The interaction and balance really takes the forefront here. Learning the timing for jumping, combos, and use of special moves really becomes nessecary or else you will be getting a major pounding from your opponent.

There are a few things to consider though before purchasing.

1) This game is hard. Very Hard. If any of you remember the Arcade version of "Street Fighter 2 Turbo" sucking away your quarters you know what I'm talking about.

2) You realy need to invest in a joystick to play this game. The Dream Cast controler just doesn't cut it here. You really need to use "Super Moves" to be effective against the CPU and you have to pull them off reliably and effectivly. Some of the super moves require lots of directional input, and the regular controller is going to leave you frustrated. (Dream Cast Joysticks are a cheap buy these days at about 10$ USD)

Overall this game is great. Old 2d fighting fans who pumped quarters at the arcades will be getting top notch difficulty and quality. Newer gamers or people beefing up their Dream Cast collections will get an excellent 2 player fighing game to play with friends and family, althouth the single player experience might be a bit too hard.

Fear Effect

Platform: Playstation
Publisher: Eidos Interactive
Genre: Third-Person Action
My Rating:   Rated: Mature
Condition: Missing manual
Edition: Summary: Despite its unforgiving difficulty, Fear Effect is an innovative cinematic adventure that serious gamers won't want to miss. Set in a dark, futuristic world, Fear Effect has players switching back and forth between its three anime-style protagonists. With a story that's filled with plot twists and heaps of what the Entertainment Software Rating Board finds offensive, this is far from kiddie fare./ Easily one of the most visually striking PlayStation titles, Fear Effect shines with Japanese-animation-inspired 3-D character graphics and full-motion-video environments that allow for nearly seamless transitions between story sequences and gameplay. With the exception of restoring saves and changing CDs, there's virtually no game interruption./ Unfortunately, it's very easy to die in Fear Effect, which not only wrecks the game's pacing, but can be really quite maddening. Many portions of the game are more frustrating than challenging, requiring players to die and reload their last saved game over and over until they get things just right./ And while Fear Effect's less-than-perfect controls admittedly do take some getting used to, its real-time inventory system is just plain awkward during combat sequences. It's doubtful that professional mercenaries like the ones you're playing would be fumbling about while changing or reloading weapons in the heat of battle./ Despite its flaws, Fear Effect does manage to keep you hooked, and is one of those games you just have to see through to its end. --Joe Hon/ Pros:/ • Striking cinematic visuals/ • Virtually no game interruptions/ • Intriguing storyline and refreshingly mature content/ • Fear Meter aspect adds new challenge/ Cons:/ • Can be more frustrating than challenging at times/ • Awkward real-time inventory system/ • Relatively short game length with little to no replay value/ • May be unsuitable for younger players/

Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix

Platform: Playstation
Publisher: Eidos Interactive
Genre: Third-Person Action
My Rating:   Rated: Mature
Condition: Missing Manual

Here you play one of four mercenaries in a team that has signed on to bring back the kidnapped daughter of a powerful Chinese executive. The adventure takes players through the chaotic alternate reality of Hong Kong, Hell's Kitchen in New York City, the formidable walled city of Xi'an, the lost tomb of the first emperor of China, and, finally, into the legendary mountain island of the immortals, Penglai Shan. A variety of melee and range weapons, such as brass knuckles, pistols, and heavy assault weapons, will help you take out increasingly combative henchmen./ The game allows you to play as any one member of the team: cover-girl assassins Hana Tsu-Vachel or Rain Qin, master operative Royce Glas, or greedy killer Jakob "Deke" Decourt. The game's variable ending changes with the disposition of certain in-game events, and other hidden features promise added replayability./

Fighters Megamix

Platform: Sega Saturn
Publisher: SEGA
Genre: Fighting
My Rating:   Rated:
Condition: Complete
Edition: Summary: Just from the Title, one who is familiar with the state of fighting games on the saturn can tell that this game is a tad silly. The name refers to the fact that Saturn has three "remix" fighting games (maybe more I don't quite remember). These include Virtua Fighter Remix, Toshinden Remix, and Toshinden URA (I don't know what URA Stands for so don't ask), all of which are slightly changed remakes of older games. Fighters Megamix is in the true sense of the word a big sloppy mixture. Specifically a mixture of Fighting Vipers and Virtua Fighter. There are eleven Characters from both games, and 10 "hidden" Characters from various other sega games, but I won't tell you what they are, that would ruin the suprise. In short, it's kind of like Sega's 3D version of Marvel Versus Capcom.
The gameplay, like the character selection, is an odd mix of fighting Vipers and Virtua Fighter. In the options mode you can either choose to play in Virtua Fighter mode, a sort of strange amalagamation of mostly Virtua Fighter and some moves which make use of the walls that apear in fighting Vipers with a lack of ringouts in other levels, and fighting vipers mode, where everything plays almost exactly like Fighting Vipers except fo the ocasional level with no walls.
The game itself is divided into four modes. First is one player mode, where the player chooses a course consisting of 6 opponents and a seventh "secret" boss. There are 9 courses in all each with a theme of it's own such as the Fighting Vipers Course (all fighting vipers) the girls Course (all female opponents) the Muscle Course (all heavy hitters) etc.. By completing a course, a secret is unlocked, usually a "hidden" character (this reminds me alot of Tekken 3). The Second Mode is Survival mode, where the player is given one life and a time limit and must defeat as many consecutive enemies in a row as he can. You can choose between a 5 minute game, a 10 and a 15 minute game. Making records and beating certain scores in these various games unlocks secrets in the option menu. The next mode is for pure fun, The VS mode, this is where you can set up a fight with the computer or a friend, set the rules and many other options. Playing this mode unlocks very few secrets. The final Mode is the Training mode where the player can practing performing his moves on a dummy character. This training mode is much more interactive than training modes in other games of this type as the computer will show you all the moves one at a time on the bottom of the screen and test you to perform it, in otherwords, press the correct sequence and the game will give you a bing noise and change the move being shown. There is one secret in volved in this mode.
All in all this game will keep you occupied for quite a long time and the sheer amount of variety in characters raises the replay value exponentially. But what's best about the game is the wacky feeling you get from the odd assortment of hidden characters which starkly contrast the serious looking Characters of Virtua Fighter. Many of the hidden characters are just plain silly and some of them are harder to use than standard characters. I highly recommend this game to all saturn owners who have just a mild interest in fighting games

Final Fantasy

Platform: Nintendo NES
Publisher: Nintendo
Genre: Role-Playing
My Rating:   Rated: Teen
Condition: Cart only
Edition: Summary: Final Fantasy has over the years becomed a legend.
And here's where it started, I will rate this game:
Story 3.5/5.0
The worlds been shrouded in darkness, all life has been reduced the winds has stopped and the sea's gone and all fauna has faded into darkness. But the legends tells of four warrior legends that will arise to save the world from perish.
Great story, don't ya' think so ? simple but fantastic.
Music 4.5/5.0
Some of the best of all of the early games, it's unique and memorable each and everything has gotten a theme (at least in the PSX version). As I said it's fantastic and memorable, the music has also becomed one of the Final Fantasy trademarks.
Remember the legendary score from Final Fantasy VII? outstanding, no game series has caught my attention as the Final Fantasy series have, bless the composer.
Graphics 3.0/5.0
It's not fair to review the graphics as they're obviously dated, But there has been added some beautiful affects in PSX version, such as the spells and the characters has also been improved by far, good graphics and stunning affects.
But don't dissmiss this game by it's graphics, give it a try.
Remember it's classic and a very rare gem.
Gameplay 5.0/5.0
The best part, you get to choose who you want to make it through with, your choice is: Black Mage, White Mage, Red Mage, Warrior, Monk and Thief. Here's a list of the best combination you could possibly choose, here I go:
Knight/Knight/Black Mage/White Mage.
Strong defense and strong offense, the wariors are strong and has alot of HP and high Evasion rade and when classes changes it evolves into a Knight which can learn low White magic spells. Such as Cure2. And the White Mage stands for the healing and the black male stands for the highly effective black magis spells, make sure to get these: Flare, Haste, Ice3. I also recommend this party: Warrior/ Warrior/ Monk/ Red Mage. This is perhaps the best team you can get.Highly effective.
Final Score 16/20
That's all for now.

Final Fantasy Anthology

Platform: Playstation
Publisher: SquareSoft
Genre: Role-Playing
My Rating:   Rated: Teen
Condition: Discs Only
Edition: Summary: Showcasing two installments of SquareSoft's wildly popular role-playing game (RPG) series, Final Fantasy Anthology features the U.S. debut of Final Fantasy V, and reintroduces one of the best RPGs of all time, Final Fantasy VI, originally released as Final Fantasy III on the Super Nintendo gaming system./ Both games are straight Super Nintendo conversions, so their 2-D graphics and 16-bit sounds are admittedly subpar by PlayStation standards. However, SquareSoft has added brand-new, beautifully animated movies for both titles, and has given Final Fantasy VI the star treatment it deserves by adding a bonus mode where gamers can access loads of supplementary material, such as artwork and data files on the game's monsters and items. As an extra bonus for hardcore fans, an audio CD featuring music from both games is included, making this quite the collector's package./ While Final Fantasy V is one of weaker entries in the series, Final Fantasy VI alone is totally worth the price of Final Fantasy Anthology. Endearingly melodramatic characters, a genuinely epic story line, and rock-solid gameplay make Final Fantasy VI just as absorbing today as it was when it was Final Fantasy III. --Joe Hon/ Pros:/ • Brand-new animated movies and bonus music CD soundtrack/ • Reissues Final Fantasy VI, one of the best RPGs ever/ • Lots of supplementary material for Final Fantasy VI/ Cons:/ • Dated graphics and sounds may bother some gamers/ • The previously unreleased Final Fantasy V may as well have stayed unreleased/

Final Fantasy Chronicles

Platform: Playstation
Publisher: SquareSoft
Genre: Role-Playing
My Rating:   Rated: Teen
Condition: Discs Only
Edition: Summary: Showcasing enhanced versions of the Super Nintendo classics Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy Chronicles is a must-have "retro" bundle for the serious role-playing game fan./ Originally released in the U.S. in 1991 as Final Fantasy II, the groundbreaking Final Fantasy IV introduced the "Active Time Battle" combat system that has since become a staple in the series. In addition to new computer animation sequences and minor gameplay enhancements, this reissue sports a new dialogue translation that is more faithful to the Japanese version and fleshes out the previously pared-down story of a conflicted knight and his quest for redemption./ Although not as well known as Final Fantasy IV--and not even part of the Final Fantasy series, for that matter--1995's Chrono Trigger is a nonlinear adventure game where players must travel across time to save a princess (and the world in the process). New Japanese cartoon cutscenes from animator Akira Toriyama (creator of Dragonball Z) grace the updated Chrono Trigger, and an extras mode (filled with game-related goodies that must be unlocked) has been added, increasing the already high replay value of this title with multiple endings./ Admittedly, the games' two-dimensional graphics and simplistic sounds are quite "last generation," which may turn off some younger gamers and recent converts to the genre, but their solid gameplay, deep storyline, and memorable characters are still first-rate by today's standards. --Joe Hon/ Pros:/ • Brings together two classic Super Nintendo role-playing games/ • Retranslated text of Final Fantasy IV more faithful/ • Extras mode increases Chrono Trigger's replay value/ • New animated "movie" sequences/ Cons:/ • In-game graphics and sounds are quite dated/

Final Fantasy VII

Genre: Role-Playing
My Rating:   Rated: Teen
Condition: Complete
Edition: Summary: Long recognized as role-playing games par excellence, the Final Fantasy series gets a technological makeover in this installment (and series debut on the PlayStation). Shedding the two-dimensional graphics and limited sound capabilities of its predecessors, Final Fantasy VII features lush 3-D graphics, beautifully animated "movie" sequences, and soundtrack-quality music. Coupled with the game's intricate storyline, endearing characters, and immense yet highly imaginative world, these new advancements make for a quite an engrossing experience./ The story of Final Fantasy VII centers around a solider named Cloud Strife, who joins forces with Avalanche, a group of resistance fighters, to take down an evil mega-corporation known as Shinra. (The fate of the world hangs in the balance, of course.) Truly epic in scope, this four-disc game requires a considerable amount of time to complete---this reviewer gladly gave up over 80 hours of his life to finish it. But it's definitely a rewarding adventure that every PlayStation owner should consider undertaking, especially since it's now one of the low-priced "Greatest Hits" titles. --Joe Hon/ Pros:/ • Intricate and absorbing storyline with endearing characters/ • Immense and highly imaginative game world/ • Special battle system/ • Beautifully animated movie sequences/ Cons:/ • Your friends and family may feel neglected/

Final Fantasy VIII

Platform: Playstation
Publisher: SquareSoft
Genre: Role-Playing
My Rating:   Rated: Teen
Condition: Complete
Edition: Summary: SquareSoft has always had a sure-fire hit when releasing any of their Final Fantasy titles, and Final Fantasy VIII should be no exception. The basis of a good RPG (role-playing game) has always been the story; spectacular graphics are secondary. Final Fantasy VIII's involved and interesting story line is filled with great twists, well-developed characters, suspense, and romance. As an added bonus, the graphics are beautiful. Everything--from the low-lit jazz club to the steam-filled railroad tunnels--is gorgeous and perfectly sets the mood and tone of a scene./ The game mechanics are standard fare for an RPG: acquisition of items and spells, turn-based combat, experience points earned in combat allowing advances in levels. From exploration to battles to dialogue, Final Fantasy VIII has it all. However, Final Fantasy VIII falls to that great weakness of RPGs: random battles. While necessary for advancing in levels, the battles occur with such frequency that they can grow annoying, making for a tedious game experience./ The epic storyline spans four discs--over 40 hours of gameplay--and is based around a mercenary cadet who finds himself caught up with an underground rebel faction. He winds up in a plot to assassinate the sorceress who has just seized power from the president./ You could complain of limited replay value, but this gripe is of no consequence: the game is such a satisfying experience, it doesn't require replay. Final Fantasy VIII is easily worth both the hype and the wait. You can't buy a much better game. --John Cocking/ Pros:/ • A story to beat all stories/ • Characters worth caring about/ • Hey--it's from SquareSoft/ • Stunning animations/ Cons:/ • Too many random battles/ • Combat is, as always, turn-based and offers minimal excitement/ • Weak souls might give up after two or three discs of play/

Final Fantasy XII: Collector's Edition

Platform: Playstation 2
Publisher: Square Enix
Genre: Role-Playing
My Rating:   Rated: Teen
Condition: Complete
Edition: Summary: Final Fantasy XII is spectacular. Adapting a form of live action gameplay first introduced in XI, FFXII still stays true to its turn based roots but with time factors, as seen initially in FFVII. The graphics are incredible and the gameplay is a lot of fun. The story is also incredibly in depth, and is jam packed with sidequests.

As far as the fighting engine, it initially seems rather lackluster, mostly because all you can do is attack. However, as the game goes on and you learn new technics, magics, summons, and mist abilities (similiar to VII's "limit breaks"), the battles become downright exciting. This is significant because it makes leveling up a less tedious, and often a fun process.

The only downside, as is the case with all modern FF's, is the voiceovers. The actors, as always, are pretty bad, but the storyline is so interesting, that it makes up for the poor performances pretty well.

The Collector's Edition is worth the extra few bucks for the flashy metal case alone, but the bonus features disk is also jampacked with art and other special features that any fanboy would be insane to pass up. And at it's $40-50 asking price, you're getting a minimum of 80 hours of gameplay, and a few extra hours of special features. It's a great deal. Go for it.

My Rating:   Rated: Everyone
Condition: Complete
Edition: Summary: I'll keep this short as most game reviews are the same.
I have about 10 hours into this game so far.

In my opinion this is the best racer to be released on the 360 to date.
Some of the things that really stick out:
Graphics are superb; damage is worth it all!
Sound is great
Play is smooth as silk
Multiplayer is really fun, it is also nice to be able to talk to the other players while the game is loading. Not too many games have that option.
Another cool multiplayer bit is you can watch a race going on and you can use a telemetry view which gives a lot of different stats on the car you are watching, this is really neat to see.

The only gripe so far I have is when playing multiplayer there is no music during the races. If you play music from your hard drive be sure to turn the music volume all the way down on the main menu or it will mix the game music and your music together when in the lobby and it sounds awful.

Race on!

Edition: Summary: An excellent science-fiction-themed strategy game with role-playing elements, Front Mission 3 is the first installment of the popular Japanese series to make it stateside. In a future where giant robots known as "Wanzers" are the war machines of choice, you are cast as a civilian test pilot who gets swept up in an international military conspiracy surrounding a weapon of mass destruction. The majority of the storytelling occurs via cut scenes and menu-driven "event" screens, with the game's "network"--a virtual computer that simulates Web and e-mail, among other things--providing additional background information and character interaction./ Front Mission 3 features a rich battle system that makes the game easy to learn but hard to put down. The different models of Wanzers can be used "as is" or modified to change their appearance, capabilities, and equipment; since a Wanzer and its pilot are controlled as one unit in battle, the pilot's battle skills and experience come into play when pairing them off during pre-battle setup. Pilots can, however, eject from Wanzers during battle and board unoccupied ones, or even fight on their own, David and Goliath style. Battles are turn-based and take place in 3-D isometric environments, which can be rotated to provide a better perspective. When combat occurs, the viewpoint changes to close-ups shown from various camera angles. While the battles are relatively short, Front Mission 3 makes up for their brevity with quantity, packing well over 100 hours of highly addictive gameplay on its one disc. --Joe Hon/ Pros:/ • Topnotch turn-based strategy battles/ • Intriguing storyline filled with melodrama and plot twists/ • Highly stylized art design/ • "Double feature" scenario adds replay value/ Cons:/ • Some "network" features are more trouble than they're worth/
